Hermosillo Streetprint is part of the 6CAB project at the University of Alberta. The city of Hermosillo (Mexico) as well as Calcuta (India), Bratislava (Slovakia) and Zaragoza (Spain) will be home to an investigation on popular print, and about what people reads in a land that José Vasconcelos baptized as "where steak and barbarism begin."

La ciudad de Hermosillo (México) junto a Calcuta (India), Bratislava (Slovakia) y Zaragoza (España) será sede de una investigación sobre imprenta popular y acerca de qué lee la gente en la tierra que Vasconcelos bautizó como donde "empiezan la carne asada y la barbarie."

Fantomas, la Amenaza Elegante (“the phantom menace”) is a Mexican adaptation of the French arch-villain Fantômas; although in this version, he is a hero. As a child I remember this comic was very popular. I hope to get some issues during my trip to Mexico. In every issue, The Phantom Menace enjoyed the company of beautiful women, including Jane Fonda (see picture above) and, needless to say, the twelve “Zodiac Girls.”
